Crate Life using Notes & Things

 

 

 

 

For the last couple of weeks, I have made about ten layouts to be published in Korea using the beautiful Notes & Things collection. I have many favorites from the line that inspired me to explore, including the chipboard frames, label stickers and tag assortment. I found it difficult to ignore these items while crafting my layouts and found myself using them over and over again.

 

Today's two-page pocket spread is great example of how much I adore Notes & Things. It encompasses a vast variety of the collection's offerings.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Recently, I started producing 8.5" x 11" Crate Life spreads. They're easy and fun! It doesn't take a whole lot to fill up the pockets and there's still plenty of room to go around. It's been an ideal way to hasten the scrapbook process without sacrificing creative potential. There's a simplicity to it as well that is the basis of the spread's overall design.

 

 

 

 

 

For my journaling to fit inside the non-standard sized pocket, I printed it vertically onto a section of vellum paper and added a pink pencil sticker as an accent. Gosh, it's such a cute pencil!

 

 

 

 

 

I then filled one of the pockets with a series of label stickers from the Notes & Things kraft label roll. Super convenient!

 

 

 

 

Last but not least, I tucked inside one of the pockets a mix of pretty sequins–a favorite technique of mine.

 

 

 

 

Undoubtedly, the tags, labels and frames are an added bonus to this delicate, detailed spread–on top of the ten other layouts I made this week. Thank goodness for Crate!

 

 

 

Floral Arrangement Cards

 

 

 

 I've been a long time fan of all of the beautiful flowers Crate has created over the years.

They're cute and elegant, and I really enjoy playing with them when scrapbooking or card making.

 It was no surprise then when I spotted the many exquisite flowers of various shapes and colors in the Open Road collection.

I fell in love with their 'vintage' feel and amazing tones.

 I couldn't wait to create cards from them in honor of this month's 'Stationery Style' theme.

 

 

 

My first card is soft and clean.

On a white sheet of cardstock, I trimmed and adhered sections of tiny flower patterned paper.

I then hand-trimmed random sized layers of white cardstock and positioned them in the center of the card with small doily pieces.

 Lastly, I added machine stitching and clear rhinestones.

In essence, the card feels pure, rich and romantic.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For my second card, I used vibrant patterned paper with the addition of Open Road's 'chipboard frames' and scattered sequins, which are super cute!

 I created a flower collage from different sizes and colors of flowers - a technique that is an absolute favorite on mine!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This time, I wanted to up the contrast by using strong colors and patterns.

I went the route of 'black, bold stripes' and 'orange'.

I extended the black/white theme to the embellishments by accenting Open Road's turquoise rose with a black/white chipboard feather.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Finally, I decided to make another card using flower patterned paper instead of flower die-cuts.

 I love the cute flowers on this vintage emerald green paper.

 It's fresh and bright–especially the beautiful yellow flowers!

 I went with even more yellow by housing Open Road's large yellow chipboard camera in the center of the card.

Behind it sits a petite transparency window filled with glitter–a kind of camera splash!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Desk Organization Ideas

Today, I'm going to show you how to manage desk clutter, including my own, with the help of Crate Paper's 'Boys Rule' collection!
The key to this challenge is the production of pocket files made from gorgeous patterned papers and a few, minimal details; a mini pocket, vellum envelope and tie closure.
 The small additions are helpful for maintaining easily-lost items such as notes, photos and receipts.

 

As a matching accessory to the files, I wrapped a small notepad in paper, along with a few stickers.

When I need to jot down a note, I happily grab the pad–it's a nice change of pace and is far more attractive than the usual standard yellow paper.

Cutting clutter doesn't have to be mundane–let Crate's patterns be of inspiration in making your desk area cleaner, and prettier.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vacation Memories

 

 

 

 

 

This layout goes beyond the 'photo' and instead, it's emphasis is on storytelling.

During the trip, I took numerous photos from one location to the next.

 Each moment ascertained it's own special story.

 On this layout, I wanted to highlight one such moment.

To do this, I pushed two related photos, from a single event, to the outer edges of my layout and in the center, I added journaling–connecting the two photos in a very personal way.

 In revisiting the journaling, I'm reminded of the special memories made during our travels.

 

 

 

 

 

 

GO. SEE. DO.

 

 

 

 

This layout showcases a photo that calls to focus the subject of 'landscapes'.

It's essence is not that of "portraiture', but forestry and foliage.

The memories soaked in at the very moment I took the photo echo throughout the entirety of the scene - which I made every effort to capture.

This is further emphasized through the use of a large sized photo.

 Usually, I prefer to work with either 4" x 6"/2" x 3" photo'(s), but I went BIG this time around.

I printed the photo on a full a4 sized sheet of photo paper.

 I then adhered it to the upper half of the layout, and arranged a minimal number of "Open Road" embellishments throughout.

On top the photo is a simple arrangement of white letters - lending contrast against the green backdrop.

 As a finishing touch, I added journaling along the bottom.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mixed Alpha Title

 

 

 

 

I created this layout using various shapes and letter and word stickers.

There are so many alpha stickers, phrase stickers, Thickers and chipboard alphas in GB July kits.

 When I found the beautiful alphabets from the kits, I absolutely knew they would be the unique title for my layout.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

First I chose the picture of my Blythe doll , Ilda and a beautiful Life Pages card filled with colorful typography.

and I arranged them on the white cardstock with a bright patterned paper.

At this very moment, be careful not to fill most of the page with the patterned paper, photo and embellishments.

 I tried to keep a large part of white space on this page for my colorful title.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then I made a title on the white space mixing Crate Paper’s thickers, Heidi Swapp’s phrase sticker and Pink Paislee’s chipboard alphabets. 

 Finally I added some stickers and embellishments and put the stitches using sewing machine here and there.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 I really love the unique title in an assortment of shapes, sizes and colors on this page.

Mixing various alphas is absolutely fun, no doubt!
